When depots are open
Depots follow the seasons more than the calendar. Each camper's page shows the dates for its own depots; these are the patterns.
The best time to visit each region- The north in the wet season
- Alice Springs, Broome and Darwin: several depots close from December to March. Plan Kimberley and Top End trips for May to October.
- Melbourne and Sydney in summer
- The Apollo, Britz and Mighty 4WD campers are only collected and returned here from November or December to March. The other campers stay year-round.
- Sundays and public holidays
- Several depots close on Sundays, some only outside the high season, and on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Good Friday. Check the days before you book flights.
