Route at a glance

Tourism NT describes a 2,230 km, ten-day journey. Camper Australia’s earlier advice allows 11–12 days. These are elapsed touring allowances, not ten or twelve continuous driving days. Your final distance depends on the sections and side trips you choose.

The route travels through the Northern Territory and ends at Timber Creek. If you collect or return the camper in Darwin or another town outside the described route, allow additional distance and time for those connections.

How much time to allow

Use 11–12 days as the earlier guide’s starting allowance, then add time for the places you want to explore. The official overview’s listed stage distances sum to 1,960 km, below its 2,230 km headline. Trace the precise roads and side trips before using either figure to plan fuel or daily distances.

Prepare for the route

The route spans different climate regions and remote roads. Confirm the exact track sections, park access and operating services for your dates, and have us check them against your camper's hire conditions. Establish fuel and water requirements, offline navigation and a communications plan before departure. A general seasonal recommendation does not confirm that a track is open.

Discuss your camper

Include the direction, intended sections, side trips and depot connections in your inquiry. Ask about suitable equipment and restrictions before relying on a particular camper for the complete track.
